Located in the capital city of Ethiopia, the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Addis Ababa is an Orthodox church founded by Emperor Menelik II in 1928 and completed by Emperor Haile Selassie I in 1942 after his exile, thus marking the liberation of the country after its occupation by Italians.
The church was often visited by the royal family. Moreover, the cemetery located in front of the cathedral is reserved only for those who have received honorary titles from the church.
Despite its European architecture, the church’s interior walls and stained glass windows display traditional Ethiopian artworks.
