According to local legends, the construction of the monolithic church, Adadi Mariam, followed the orders of King Lalibela. Carved in stone and located on a small hill in southern Ethiopia, this church was sealed for centuries, giving it a mysterious appeal. It is 19 meters long, 16 meters wide and 6 meters high, and has 10 gates, representing the Ten Commandments. The church is still operational and welcomes many worshippers each year.
