Formed in a depression and source of the legendary Blue Nile, Lake Tana is the largest lake in Ethiopia. Located in the region of Amraha, at an altitude of around 1800 m, this cobalt blue natural treasure offers exquisite panoramas. The crossing of the lake will make you discover its falls and its fauna. In addition to its natural splendor, Lake Tana has a significant spiritual significance in Ethiopia. Intrinsically linked to Ethiopian orthodox Christianity, the lake is home to 37 small islands, including twenty or so hosting or having hosted monasteries.
