Located to the north of the country, the Simien Mountains are part of the highlands of Ethiopia, home to the beautiful Simien National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nature lovers can visit its many peaks, valleys and precipices – some of which can reach up to 1500 m deep. Among the Simien Mountains is Ethiopia’s highest peak, Ras Dejen. In addition to being the home of wilderness, the park is a refuge for endangered species including the gelada, the Ethiopian wolf, the Walia Ibex and the Simien fox.
