Day 1: Crossing the legendary Blue Nile river

Itinerary

  • Leave Bole airport for Bahir Dar
  • We will take a boat cruise on Lake Tana and we will visit the 14th century Monastery of Ura Kidane Mihret which is the most famous of the Zege peninsula monasteries
  • Lunch
  • After lunch, we will head to Tis Abay village
  • We will cross the Portuguese bridge to admire the Blue Nile falls
  • Afterwards, we will cross the Blue Nile by boat
  • Dinner

Day 2: The mythical city of Gondar

Itinerary

  • After breakfast, we will head to the city of Gondar
  • We will visit the royal city of Fasil Ghebbi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • A few kilometers further, we will visit the royal baths of Fasilides
  • Lunch
  • We will then discover Debre Birhan Selassie Orthodox Church, decorated with beautiful paintings dating from the early 19th century
  • Dinner
  • Spend the night in Gondar

Day 3: Simien National Park

Itinerary

  • After breakfast, we will leave Gondar to visit the Simien National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • While hiking, we will appreciate the beauty of its valleys and spectacular landscapes
  • Lunch
  • After lunch, we will continue the hike. We will see the gelada, the wolf of Ethiopia and the fox of Simien
  • Dinner
  • Stay in Gondar

Day 4: The legendary city of Axum

Itinerary

  • After breakfast, you will catch a flight to Axum, in the north of Ethiopia
  • We will visit the Stelae park to see monoliths, before visiting St Mary’s church, the very place where the Ark of the Covenant is located according to legends
  • Lunch

  • We will then head to the tombs of King Kaleb and Gebre Mesquel Lalibela, and will later discover the ruins of Dungur, the palace of the Queen of Sheba

Day 5: The churches of Lalibela

Itinerary

  • After breakfast, you will fly to Lalibela
  • We will discover the city, a sacred land for Ethiopians of Christian faith
  • Lunch
  • We will visit the eleven rock churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Dinner
  • Spend the night in Lalibela

Day 6: Explore Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia

Itinerary

  • After breakfast, we will visit the surrounding villages to discover Ethiopia’s culture
  • Then we will fly from Lalibela to Addis Ababa and visit the city
  • If you have a flight in the afternoon, we will drive you to the airport
